2016 PGA of Ireland Captain
Last Tuesday, March 8th 2016, at our AGM in Carton House, Dublin, I was inaugurated as '2016 PGA in Ireland Captain'.
This was an immensely proud moment for me and rest assured I will endeavour to represent Killymoon Golf Club, the PGA and my family to the best of my ability and I look forward to the challenge ahead.
Unfortunately my father Jackie, sister Carole and mentor/godfather Jimmy Cassidy-PGA Professional Dundalk, are no longer around to enjoy my success but my mother, Myrtle, my wife Diane and the rest of my family are and I look forward to my year ahead with them.
I have arranged a TaylorMade fitting day for the 1st April from 2pm to 6pm at 'Barry Hamills Driving Range'. There are limited spaces available so book quickly or be disappointed. As usual fittings cost £20 which is deductable from any purchases made as a result of the fitting. I am still in the process of arranging further fitting days and will notify you all as soon as dates are confirmed.
Michael Gallagher - PGA Professional
As you are probably all aware by now my assistant, Michael Gallagher, is leaving us to take up the position of Head PGA Professional at Clandeboye GC, Bangor. Michael was a member of Killymoon for 7 years before becoming my assistant 12 years ago, and what a great move that was for both him and me. Michael is very driven, conscientious and innovative young man as well as a good friend to me, and he will be sorely missed at Killymoon and somewhat irreplaceable. Best of luck in Clandeboye Slick!
Congratulations and best wishes to our new Lady Captain Linda Lennon and Captain Niall Johnston for their year ahead. They are very vibrant and personable people and will undoubtedly portray a fine reflection of Killymoon Golf Club and its members.
Let's not forget the quiet and demure Club President, Alastair Laird, who is serving his second year in his role, and being the shy and retiring type will no doubt happily sit back and let Linda and Niall steal the limelight!!!
